The Balinese Room in Galveston Texas was a dance hall and illegal casino that was operated for a number of years until it was closed by the Texas Rangers because of the gambling. Reopened in 2001 without the gambling The Balinese Room lasted until 2008 when it was destroyed by Hurricane Ike. In 1997, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Balinese is featured in pop culture; Rock group ZZ Top wrote and performed a song about the club called, "Balinese." Was it a tiki bar? Maybe not in its strictest definition, but it certainly belong on any list of cool and now defunct places.
